Below are the purchases I have made since I first started this blog in March. Before I started this blog, the last purchases I made were in February.
The ones in bold are where I cheated on my 6-month shopping ban (from March to September):
5/2/2011: Fruit of the Loom $15 (tanks & underwear = necessities) – doesn’t count
6/2/2011: BaubleBar $4 (shipping costs for complimentary tan stud wrap gift) – counts
6/27/2011: Forever21 $58.94 (part of my birthday gift) – doesn’t count
7/14/2011: Forever 21 $55.25 (part of my birthday gift) – doesn’t count
7/14/2011: Talbots $25.85 (part of my birthday gift) – doesn’t count
7/28/2011: JewelMint $29.99 – counts
8/22/2011: Alterations $85 – doesn’t count
8/26/2011: BaubleBar $32 – counts
8/31/11: Ross $32.31 – counts
9/3/11: Payless $24.75 – doesn’t count
Total: $98.30
My latest purchase, peep toe shooties (which can also be seen here):
I discussed with my husband how well I did on the shopping ban. In absolute values, I failed because I cheated as seen above. However, holistically speaking, my husband said I would get an A- because he didn’t think I would last as long as I did. I also didn’t really go crazy after my shopping ban ended either. So far, I’ve only gotten a pair of shooties and I haven’t really been tempted to buy anything else (and that includes all the fall sales and outlet shopping in Vegas!).
Overall, I would have given myself a B+ because I felt badly about not making it the whole 6 months without shopping at all. I did make a few impulse purchases, ahem, JewelMint Opera Necklace and Pearl Fleur Earrings (which can be seen here). I also didn’t take into account that paying for shipping still counts as payment for a shopping item. I’m giving myself a break for not being perfect, though, which is why I think a B+ is acceptable.
Would I do the shopping ban again? Maybe, but definitely not for six months – that’s way too long (for me)! I don’t have any regrets on the items I didn’t purchase, but that’s also because my friends got me the Obey jacket for my birthday. I still think wistfully every now and again about the blue lace dress from Forever 21, but I’m not kicking myself about it, which is good.
My most recent BaubleBar purchase (a cheat purchase) will be seen very soon in my Vegas recap…and that wraps up my review on how I did on my shopping ban!
Thanks to everyone who visited while I was partying in Vegas – I’ll be responding shortly! Don’t you hate how all the work catches up to you once you get back from a mini-vacation? Craziness…and more to come!

Great job on the shopping ban! It is really hard for me to hold off – I just rationalize everything – “Oh, I can wear this pregnant and afterwards too!”.
Super cute shooties! Love that name by the way

You made it!! Now it’s time to go CRAY-ZY!! (Kidding!!) =P I say you did exceptionally well, what with not buying any clothing. A girl can never have too many accessories though! =P I guess I’ll expect to see more hauls in the future! Kekekeke.
